Social networking sites have blossomed in the 21st century and it's easy to see why. They allow you keep contact with people all around the world while also giving you a platform to broadcast anything you want, from the personal to the ridiculous. Now imagine a site like that with an adult bent, where you can do all of those things plus watch hardcore pornography? That's where Vavoom comes in.
Vavoom purports itself to be an all-in-one site for sex where you can watch porn, buy toys and DVDs from a store as well as chat and hook up with other members. Think of it as Adult Friend Finder mixed with Myspace mixed with hardcore porn. As you'd imagine, the success of a site like this is entirely dependant on two things: how many total members there are and how many are located within x miles of your house. I did a search for women between the ages of 18-65 and received a total of 22 profiles from locations over 1,000 miles away, so hooking up with members is unlikely at this moment.
They offer over 1,200 nonexclusive videos from some of the more popular production houses in the US and featuring such names as Sophie Dee and Nikki Luv. There's a wide variety of smut, including big tits, BBW, ebony hotties, 18 to 23-year olds and many more. Unfortunately, none of the films are broken up into categories, though they do have a search feature.
All the clips are only available in streams. This is frustrating because the join page says a premium membership includes "downloading 1000s of DVDs," but that appears to only apply to the store, which you can access without a membership. You are given a couple different settings depending on your bandwidth, but even on the high setting the video quality is average and you'll find some pixilation.
There are ads strewn throughout the site, which is a real pain. It would be one thing if they were offers for reduced membership or if the ads were removed for premium members, but that isn't the case. There are no picture galleries or vid caps of the films, though you can upload images to your profile.
There are a number of channels you can watch including user-created content. You also have the option to upload videos to the site if you want to create your own network. At the moment, there are only a handful of user-generated channels, but that will likely increase as membership rises. And the content uploaded isn't always sexual as I watched a parody of a popular '80s cartoon.
There is plenty of porn on Vavoom to keep you busy even if there aren't enough people to talk to about it. In time, however, they may build a strong community like more mainstream social networking sites, but it isn't there yet.
