Sock Fetish

Fetishes are complicated things for some folks to understand. Myself, some I get right away while others require me to try to put myself into the mindset of the fetishist in question. I think sometimes, when an object is easily connected with a person, it is simpler to make the connection between mainstream concepts of sexual attraction. High Heel Divas, for example, someone who isn’t a true shoe lover, could still be attracted to the lovely female models.

Where it might get a tad more unusual is when the experience of the item in question seems to bend the regular rules of gender and perhaps challenge for some the comfort level with their own sexual orientation. For example, many people tend to assume in correctly that cross dressers are gay, when in fact many are exclusively heterosexual and have no attraction towards other men.

Perhaps, equally confusing for some to understand is that these individuals do not wish to be women themselves. Dressing in women’s clothes is in fact their way of being intensely intimate with women by engulfing themselves in symbols of femininity rather than merely observing women from a distance.

There is of course at times the mere tactile experience too. If you’ve ever worn pantyhose, as a man, you realize they feel light tiny fingers all over your legs. Meanwhile, a good pair of control tops really accentuates the masculine shape of your legs, besides giving you one hell of a package up front.

I read an interesting article by Brian Hutchinson in the Weekend National Post that described said attraction object wearer. A 41-year-old married engineer going by the internet nickname of Witesock has kept a secret from wife, friends and co-workers. He collects used athletic socks and enjoys wearing preferably with shin pads. The resident of Toronto, Ontario makes it clear that he’s not a foot fetishist, although he does respect them as “distant cousins.”

However, he’s far from alone in his love of athletic footwear. He described how once, he took a self-portrait using a mirror for a fellow sock lover from Australia, “He had some great rugby-club socks and he offered them to me. He wanted a photo of me wearing a pair of his socks, and having a pie thrown in my face… the most bizarre thing I had ever heard.”

Personally, I know hat anything with whipping cream on it holds certain appeal to me. Just read my post from the other day and you’ll see what I mean. To each his own and more power to him I say. I imagine, wearing some male athletes used socks might make one feel manlier or certainly, makes one’s feet smell more so at least!
