Is That a Penis Pump in your Pocket?
Some of us are shy about shopping for certain things. Maybe, your girl in a jam sends you out for tampons. In some areas, just to buy a dirty magazine, it has to be requested from a special rack behind the cash making it obvious, who soon will be masturbating. Perhaps, you feel self-conscious purchasing prophylactics and lube. Even if you pick the extra-large ones, that snotty-nosed eighteen-year-old pharmacy clerk might seem to say, “Yeah, right, you wish dude?”
I’m always amused by shyness about such things. Let’s face it. Everyone is doing it, whether we’re talking masturbating or sex. Meanwhile, men buying feminine hygiene products obviously don’t secretly have vaginas or plans to stick them up their asses instead. Therefore, leave the red face at home. Nevertheless, feeling ashamed to buy adult items does lead some to other shameful behavior such as shoplifting smut.
Matthew Torbit of New Zealand’s The Dominion Post reports that one adult store chain was fed up with thieves. It installed security cameras in its shops and managed to capture crooks on film. However, unless, a culprit’s face was immediately recognized as a repeat offender by authorities, little was done to apprehend suspects.
Therefore, John Frew, director of the porn retailing chain came up with his own way of persecuting rather than prosecuting the shoplifters.
Each store posts signs with photos of individuals in the act of stealing. The first to appear in the window of one Erox Lifestyle Centre, showed a guy allegedly absconding with a $109.96 NZD penis pump under his hooded jacket. Underneath it reads, “When will he pay for the penis pump he stole?”
Wellington lawyer John Edwards, a specialist in privacy law, describes the risky tactic as touching a grey area as far as legalities go. The photo’s subject could sue for defamation. However, he counters, “Mind you, truth is complete defense against defamation, so if this guy has taken the penis pump then it is unlikely to stand up in court.”
Meanwhile, Erox has posted a Rogue’s Gallery onto their website. Now, we know not only who plans on pleasuring themselves but those who won’t pay to play.
